I also want to add that sulfate/sulfonate free anionic detergents might also remove cones, such as isethionates.

Firefox7275 and Fimu, this is great information. Thank you so much. Now that I've got at least one conditioner that my hair loves, and some good leads on what ingredients to look out for, I'll be experimenting with detergents.

I've had a bizarre experience trying to get hold of that Natura Siberica conditioner in the UK. The ingredients listed above (and on the website) sounded ideal, so I ordered what I believed was the same product. It took a month to arrive, and now I have in front of me a tub that looks identical to the photo on the website, but with these ingredients:

Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetrimonium Chloride, Dimethiconol, Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Glycerin, Citric Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzoic Acid, Sorbic Acid, Cetrimonium Bromide, Parfum, CI 15985, CI 19140, CI 42090, CI 14720, Hexyl Cinnamal.

This is not what I wanted...

I've been getting on well with the silicones recently, however, so I'll give it a go, although it's not exactly a dupe for the bumble & bumble Miracle Oil. I'd love to get my hands on the cetyl esters version, so I'll look out if I ever see it in a shop.

Back on the bumble & bumble topic, I've been trying out a sample of the shampoo from the Miracle Oil range, with these ingredients:

Water\aqua\eau, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Glycerin, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Coco-betaine, Acrylates Copolymer, Decyl Glucoside, Butylene Glycol, Glycol Distearate, Laureth-23, Glycereth-26, Vitis Vinifera (grape) Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (sweet Almond) Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (coconut) Oil, Gardenia Tahitensis (tiare) Flower Extract, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Carthamus Tinctorius (safflower) Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phenyl Trimethicone, Panthenyl Ethyl Ether, Sodium Pca, Pantethine, Polyquaternium-7, Polyquaternium- 10, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Sulfate, Fragrance (parfum), Linalool, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Phenoxyethanol, Methylisothiazolinone, Methylchloroisothiazolinone.

Some exotic surfactants in there I hadn't tried before, and which clean the scalp as well as my sulphate shampoos, while allowing the company to market it as sulphate free. It's pretty good although still a bit too harsh for my scalp, which easily becomes dry.

Two years on I still haven't found a conditioner that makes my hair look and feel as good as bumble & bumble Miracle Oil, though I haven't yet followed all the leads suggested by the helpful people in this thread.

bumble & bumble have come out with an "Ultra Rich" version of this conditioner, which also works well for my hair, apparently equally well with the normal conditioner.
There's also a mask formulation which I haven't tried yet.

For the sake of posterity here are the current ingredient lists:

bumble & bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Conditioner
Water\Aqua\Eau, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Esters, Glycerin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Behentrimonium Chloride, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Gardenia Tahitensis (Tiare) Flower Extract, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein Pg-Propyl Silanetriol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolyzed Wheat Starch, Dimethicone, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Panthenyl Ethyl Ether, Sodium PCA, Ethylhexylglycerin, Dimethiconol, Pantethine, Potassium Stearate, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, BHT, Fragrance (Parfum), Linalool, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol

bumble & bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Ultra Rich Conditioner
Water\Aqua\Eau, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Dimethicone, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Seed Oil, Gardenia Tahitensis (Tiare) Flower Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Phospholipids, Arginine, Dicetyldimonium Chloride, Lactic Acid, Cetyl Esters, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxypropyl Guar, Isopropyl Alcohol, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Tocopherol, Fragrance (Parfum), Linalool, Hexyl Cinnamal, BHT, Disodium EDTA, Potassium Sorbate <ILN49453>

bumble & bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Mask
Water\Aqua\Eau, Cetearyl Alcohol, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Propanediol, Dimethicone, Behenyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetyl Esters, Gardenia Taitensis (Tiare) Flower Extract, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Sterols, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Tocopherol, Lactic Acid, Dimethiconol, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Hydroxypropyl Guar, Arginine, Fragrance (Parfum), Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hexyl Cinnamal, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol <ILN48050>

I'm still quite attached to the cetyl esters theory, but now have a couple of pieces of evidence against it:
    - The Ultra Rich version of the conditioner seems to work equally well, but cetyl esters is much less prominent in its ingredients,
    - I've tried L'Oreal Elvive Dream Lengths conditioner, in which cetyl esters is the fourth ingredient, but this did not work well for my hair.

"Working well" here means that my hair ends up shiny, heavy, supple, and does not look or feel dry or stringy.
