Mod note: Hair typing instructions can be found here

I searched for a thread, but I could only find separate ones. So I thought I would make an official one for everyone to get help. Sorry if this have been done before.

Well, I actually thought that I typed my hair correctly as a 2b, but I have seen a lot of hair typing threads where people with less curls than me is typed as a 2 or 3. So I was wondering if anyone could help me type my hair? I can't upload pictures, but here is a link:

    Can anyone help?

I don't know much about typing but I would say you got it right, a solid 2c. Your hair is very even. My hair is straighter than yours on the crown but spirals a LOT elsewhere. I was going with 2c originally but someone told me I was 3a, so I went with 2c/3a.

I would agree with the 2C.

I don't think there is a definitive thread just for hair-typing. Mostly people just post their own threads, or jump into someone else's when they ask about typing. This isn't a thread we can all post on now, as it's archived, but it was in the "sticky" at the top of the Mane Forum. There's plenty of info there on hair-types, for anyone who hasn't seen it.

    Default The Hairtyping Help Thread

This is not to discourage anyone from starting their own 'what is my hairtype?' thread if they so wish, but it seems many people don't necessarily want to start their own so if you want your hair typed (without your own thread), or you have queries, post here!

For reference the official Hairtyping Guide is here: https://forums.longhaircommunity.com...d.php?t=116252

Of importance are the hairtyping instructions - we cannot accurately type your pic if you've combed / used stylers / etc.
How do I find out my hair type?

Wash your hair as you usually do.You do not need to use other products, clarify or change your regular routine. The hair type which really matters is the one you are dealing with day to day and not so much the one you could have if you just clarified. Of course your true natural hair type will come out most when your hair is absolutely clean from all product leftovers and it's also neat to know how much different routines alter ones hair type, but clarifying is not a necessary requirement to type your hair.

Let your hair air dry with the least amount of detangling you can manage to do. Detangling before washing and while your hair is still wet is totally fine, just avoid doing it (as much as reasonably possible) during the time it is air drying. Finger combing, combing and brushing during that time will change the structure of your hair you are just trying to discover. Not all hair types can manage to dry totally untouched, still it's best to keep it to a minimum to avoid changing the results.
For information about the classifiers the Hairtyping Guide explains them all.

    Happy hairtyping!

Edit: Once you've settled on a type for your hair, please share it in the Hairtyped pictures for reference thread if you'd like - the more, the better

Oh my gosh this is incredibly helpful. Thank you so so much!

Now I just need to get a photo immediately after my hair dries from washing instead of the day after when I oil the night before.

I'm so happy about this thread! I've been pretty confused about my hair type. Sometimes it's wavy and sometimes it's just got a very subtle wave. I have no idea if I'm 1c or 2a. I have layers cut in and I'm not sure if that changes things. Can you guys help me figure it out?

I'd say 1c for sure. Even 1c/2a, because there's individual waving going on.
