The official hair typing thread

Bat, I think, as others say, you're in the 2s, definitely need more length. But I don't think it will be a huge deal, because there are several way to straight your hair without heat. And those techniques work better on long hair.

It's a big deal to me going from one type to a less desirable type, I'll see how it gets when longer if it gets more wavy I might decide to go back to short hair if I'm unhappy with how my hair develops

I've got a fun one for you tonight, ladies (& non-ladies).

My hair looks pretty straight most of the time - most days, Lucy McLucyFace and I could be hair twins, as my texture and colour look very much like her photos. I usually comb my hair while wet and BBB each day, and along with coney conditioners this results in a very 1b/1c effect. However, I've suspected for a while that there may actually be some secret waviness in there that's developed with age and hair length, so I did a hairtyping wash with minimal manipulation.

I'm amazed at the difference lighting makes!

I don't have any expectations about hair type and am enjoying the process of curiosity and change. But after seeing these photos I know I definitely need a better camera. I hope the quality is not too poor. I also didn't realise how ill-fitting the yellow dress was from the back - anyone have any tips on taking the shoulders in?

I'm getting my hair 'typed' each milestone so I can see how my type changes/progresses as it gets longer, I know APL is best to get a more accurate typing <_< I'll be driving you nuts when I post my shoulder length photo

barnet_fair, I think that might be 1c/2a, but going more towards 2a. I know, some 1c/2a's are probably looser in texture than others. But I'm a little unsure. I might even call this 2a! Someone put my mind at ease, please.

I would say 2a for barnet_fair. Looks a lot like my texture, to be fair.

Don't despair, Bat. Even if you end up in the 2s, you can more than likely get away with brushing and just gain a bit of volume from it. My hair goes almost stick straight from brushing. I just don't do it because it makes my hair tangle more, especially in the damaged area.

barnet_fair, I think 2a, because of the visible clumps and for those strand strongly in the 2s. To me, the roots looks more in the 1s because of the weight, and having coarse hair I think could be possible...
