Water Only & Sebum Only picture collection !

Sebum only is not using water. Just manually distributing sebum onto the hair. Scritching and preening a lot to clean the scalp and distribute the sebum. It used to be a common method of hair care more than 100 years ago.

I'm intriguied to try this..
So do you just literally jump in the shower wet your hair and massage and your done? How does it clean your hair?

I did WO for a while and the shine i got was amazing and my hair just felt lovely and soft but like it should feel naturally not from a conditioner i had another go last night and it made my waves fantastic. Normally i only last a few weeks to a month as the greasy look just bothers me after a while.

does anyone do WO who has a full/blunt fringe? Just wondering if its possible because the greasies really do look awful with a fringe

Wow, how inspiring!! Perhaps I shall give WO a try tonight, although I did just oil my scalp with castor oil...yikes. Maybe I could go all over with tea tree then massage it out? Not sure...maybe I will have to start my experiment after one more real wash ;/

I may or may not upload some pics a bit later. I've gotten back to my roots, that is, water-only again. But this time I won't go hardcore (cold water only).
Yeah well, some pics may come. In a few weeks. Or if I find some old pictures that show the texture.

I preen first, when my hair and hands are dry. (see link in siggy) Then I turn on the water and rinse. However, since I found most of the benefit came from the preening, my routine became more SO, rather than WO, pretty quickly. I found that the rinse ended up making a helmet-head feeling quicker than if I didn't use water. OTOH, some days my hair just felt dirty and needed a rinse. And SO can straighten curls, whereas water will reset the curls. So preening, followed by a quick rinse and plopping, can keep my hair curly.

The cleaning action in SO, WO, and CO (in part) all come from massaging the scalp and physically mobilizing the natural oils.

I'm 14 days into WO and these were taken today after it had been washed and dried.
