It's all in the language, I think. There is a separate word for blonette in Russian, it's rusy (roo-syi). This word is an umbrella term for everything that's not platinum blonde but is too light to be considered brunette. So in my head this color does have an identity, but this identity is very, how do I say it? Very Russian (because words rusy and Russia have the same root), and it still doesn't stop it from being called mousy and boring. Russian ladies bleach their manes like there's no tomorrow, or at least they used to before "rusy" became trendy. When it happened we just thought that the world of high fashion finally accepted something natural. Younger girls accept their natural color more and more often, but there are still too many women who bleach.
Yeah, English is really missing an equivalent.

I also heard of a word ruse, where the explanation was also that the term came from Russia, associated to light hair with red shine, like ginger or so.
I think rusy is more golden tones. Cooler dark strawberry blonde might be called it as well, but since rusy is so abundant, we are quick to label anything with reddish tones as ginger, because they really stand out from the sea of ashy-light-brown/rusy

I don't know any blonette celebrity but back when I stopped coloring my hair, I really liked this model and her hair color, I thought it's the perfect golden/neutral blonette with natural highlights

Just now I came across this picture of three women I would consider blonette too, possibly the longest and the curliest blonette hair I have ever seen!

I tried looking for some darker blonette shades. First I thought about Ruslana Korshunova

I would only consider those darker haired models to be true blonettes. The lighter ones are simply dark blondes imo.

Yeah understandable, I'm not claiming that my examples are the one true definition of blonette Those of us who live places where there's more natural light blondes might be a bit more strict about what is considered blonde or blonette. I believe the darker examples I posted here would be considered just brunettes by most (at least where I live).

edit. and actually looking again the previous pictures I posted, many/most of them would be probably considered brunettes too

Yeah that makes sense. They’d be considered brunette/light brown where I am too. There aren’t a ton of natural light blondes where I am, but enough people bleach their hair to skew perception anyway. Is the hair level chart different where you are too? I try to use that as my guide.

Hmm I haven't seen a hair level chart in years but I doubt it's different. I think level 7 is considered light brown in some places and dark blonde in others but not sure. Someone who knows more about those should step in here
