Here is finished project. At last minute I had to fix the top flexi, I realized it was backwards with jewel in facing my hair.

I redid it once, and it took upwards of 25 minutes all told.

Oh ribbons and braids bring 2 hairstyles to mind for me the first is hair taping which was already mentioned and the second that comes to mind is a french four strand ribbon braid and here's the link to that if you're interested! http://youtu.be/r8rV_PEMPZM

The last time I went to the ren faire, my hair was just extremely messy
I just had random sections braided throughout, but the wind was so bad that I had to buy a hair stick to put it up in the middle of the day.

I’m considering this year trying a Silvous Plaits style.

I was able to do this hairstyle, but could not manage it at Faire. Faire is always an hour drive or so, and I need a very simple style because I do not have much time for hair in the morning considering how long it takes getting dressed into all my garb. My hair is curly and snags itself, it does not braid well. I just wore my hair down and curly so far this year.

Here was that attempt at home though. I was very happy with it.

wow that looks so awesome, I'm loving how this looks! I think your choice of hair toys elevated the style as it's now such an awesome balance of elegance and straight badass

My hair is not long enough for heavier toys and I find the metallic weapon type sticks I have gotten just feel too heavy. BUT I'm excited for when I can wear them because I dig the look so much
