I have always prioritized length but it wasn't really working for me.. my hair is so fine that I really couldn't get past waist length that way because of all the breakages, my hair also did not look long because the end were so thin and dry.. Now I'm definitely prioritizing condition so that all of the growth I get "counts" because my ends are not just breaking off and thinning.

    I would say condition.
Because condition benefits the advancement of length.

Condition wins for me. My sis in law has much longer hair than me (tailbone length), but the lower part of her hair, not just the ends, are dreadfully split. It pains me to say it but it really needs a damn good cut!

Clearly condition for me. Less than a year ago I bleached my hair to almost white and it started breaking. So I cut it really short, even though I hate how I look like now. The people around me were confused that I cut my hair so short, mostly because they didn't seem to understand that I hate feeling my hair so dry and straw-like (before damaging it, my hair was silky-soft).

Length always mattered more to me until I realize I hated my hair. I had met my goal and almost didn't even realize it because so few hairs actually made it. And I have a lot of hair. It just didn't look good. Don't know if I can grow that long again with a nice hemline but I will try again with newfound tricks and advice we will see.

Ideally I'd say condition, but realistically I'd say there can be a balance. Unfortunately for me, my hair is naturally dry and frizzy, so despite all my best efforts the condition of the ends deteriorates over time. I've been doing 1/2 inch trims every 4 months or so but my hair is still the same length as it was when I joined this forum. Sigh! I trimmed mine a few days ago but I think I may need to do a bigger chop if I want healthy ends.

Condition, I need it to feel soft and fall nicely, length is not that important as soon as it's flowy around my face.

    Condition.

But in the past I have kept my damaged hair, long hiding the offending sections in updos, because I wasn't ready to cut yet.
Grow grow grow, where it stops no body knows.
