Default Hair toys spotted in the wild

Have you seen any nice hair toys while out in public?

I'm surprised to find that I have yet to spot any hair sticks, let alone a fork or Ficcare--and I live in a large city. I've only been aware enough to look for them since I joined LHC about a month ago, but still, are they really that rare?

Come to think of it, a family friend did show up to a celebration last week wearing a small flexi-8 in a half-up. I got all excited and said, "Oh you have a flexi-8!" And she was like, "A what? My mom gave this to me..."

I've become more discriminating as to sorts of hair elastic, but I've yet to see hairsticks etc "in the wild".

I saw a woman with long hair at Wally World and she had her hair up in hairsticks (they appeared to be chopsticks). I remember it got my attention right away.

I saw a ketylo once in the wild. Elastics are quite common here.

Not too long ago - a couple of weeks or so - I saw a woman on the metro with her hair up and wearing a hairstick.
Mostly, when someone wears their hair up at all, the hair is usually held by a hair elastic, or perhaps a hair claw.

I saw a young girl (maybe 10yo) the other day with a "glassy" hairstick. I thought it was clear plastic with swirling color stripes inside, but it could have been glass. Did not dare to ask, though: the creepiness factor raises when it's a child you approach to ask for her updo...

I think if I ever saw someone with a hair fork or Ficcare I would seriously suspect them of being an LHCer.

Alvodrul: the Metro of which city? I was in DC a few weeks back, traveling every day between Columbia Heights and Judiciary Square. (Plus some other trips.)

It could hardly be you - I live in Oslo. And anyway, this person was not a Renegray, she had reddish hair.

I go to a party every 4th of July to reconnect with old friends. One girl who last year was really gushing over her EZcombs/Hairzings, swearing they were the best thing ever. I cannot get them to work in my abundance of hair, sigh. Anyway, I arrived this year wearing my Emerald XL Flexi-8 (as a secondary anchor on a coffin-pinned figure 8 bun) and she was like "Wow, I really love your beaded thing!" Another lovely lady at the party was wearing wooden hair sticks with silver frogs as toppers in a cinnabun. I hadn't met her before, and when I commented on them, i don't think she understood, because she looked at me sideways and didn't respond. It's not that she's a cold person, probably just shy.
