    Twice a week(wash days), with conditioner/mask.

Before a wash only - unless I'm going an unusually long period without washing for whatever reason. Then I might need to brush in between.

But if I brush, I need to keep brushing, because my hair will tangle at a faster rate after brushing because the clumps have been broken.

And then people say "just brush your hair, it's basically straight". Sis, I cant

Once to twice a week unless I have a special hairstyle I want to do.

I like to not brush it for a couple of days after a wash, sometimes, but after that about once a day. If I'm playing with it and taking it up and down, I might brush it a few more times.

Once a week, nice and thorough, right before a wash (on dry hair) and when my hair comes out the towel (on damp hair). That's it!

I don't brush my hair ever. I think I stopped after about a year here (around Classic) and gave up the comb as well past FTL. I only use my fingers to detangle for a few reasons:
    1) I find it infinitely easier and natural at this length. Basically, I have to anchor my hair around FTL with one hand and pull the remaining length across with the other to reach the ends. This way also allows me to do one continuous motion from nape to ends. I tried to use a comb just out of curiosity once and gravity took effect pretty quickly at the horizontal bit.
    2) Less chance of breaking hairs if I can feel the knots and work through them manually.
    3) While my fingers can't do extra fine detangling like a brush can, like Ylva says, my hair knots less overall being allowed to stay in some natural "clumps" from my texture.

I have lurked the thread after posting the other day, and really taken what you guys have said into consideration. It makes sense! At least for my 2a hair. However: When I brush, I catch a LOT of dust/lint. Doesn't this accumulate in the hair if you don't brush?

I found after starting to wear a bonnet to sleep that the amount of dust and lint in my hair decreased considerably. I think I pick up a lot of it from my bedding.
