how many hair toys/pins do you need for your average updo?

One hairstick (though I don't often use sticks) or one fork for pretty much any bun with the exception of a braided cinnabun which always seems to require one tiny pin to keep the tail from slipping out. If I'm using spin pins (which - if anyone has some that don't have the ball on the end I would like to hear about it), I usually need two for the average bun.

If I'm using small (~1-2") claw clips, I use two unless the stars are working in my favor and I can get away with one at the back of the bun.

Toys: Just one. Any more and my scalp will be aching pretty quickly.
Pins: An endless amount! I'm really into neat styles and like to take care of any free-floaters

I'm a lazy hairstyler. I only need one hair toy to do the job. I don't have the time or patience for intricate styles.

One because I'm lazy like that...before LHC it was three. Two u-pins and a decorative comb. I want to try and decorate my bun more and I made finishing pins for myself, but it just seems to take extra time to put in and take out so usually I don't...but I did for Thanksgiving I hid a small Turkey finishing pin (made out of a turkey shank button, two silicon earring backs and an amish pin) in my bun. I felt extra festive XD

If I am walking a fork then just one at the time. Ok, maybe there is an other one in my handbag, it eventually could be also a stick or both.
Sticks mostly one, very rarely two.
Pins as much as needed, It depends on what kind of bun I am wearing.
