Hmmmm, although I don't know for sure from what enyfs said I am going to deduce there is a "testing section" somewhere on the boards. I may have seen this in my wanderings, it sounds somehow familiar, but I will have to admit that, if I did, that fact didn't stick in my brain.

The test board is already where people go to test links and so on. Unlike the rest of the forum threads here aren't archived; they fall of a virtual cliff after 2 months.

This part of the board is already well used and known about by those that need it. It's not a matter of filling up LHC since the threads have a finite life here. However, if all tests were posted in this one thread it could possibly start an archive effect (I don't know if thread deletion is from first post or last activity), thus filling up LHC. Slowly.
