Thank you everyone!! I love this thread and how supportive everyone is.

I haven't actually taken length shots of my hair in over 2 years now (sob), but I'm currently at hip (34.5") and I think I hit TBL around 38", so I should maybe make it this year. :P
But I managed to get my husband to take a picture of my hair for me, and it is very interesting to compare my hair at 34.5" today to when it was at 34" in 2015. It looks much healthier this time, IMO.
In 2015, it looked like this at 34".
Today @ 34.5":

I don’t know if i asked this before but I genuinely need all of you to weigh in. When you started growing your hair from day shoulder or those middle lengths to long, like tailbone, did you have thinner ends than the rest of the hair?
I don’t know how to describe it, it’s like when I pull my pony from neck down , the thickness of it is smaller as I go down.
If some of you did have this ‘issue’ how did you fix it? Is it positive for hair to be long and have thick ends on such lengths? I just want to know if it worth a try or should I just trim it if to the last thick ending ?
Growing virgin hip length
I think the term you are looking for is "taper".
Because each hair follicle has its own cycle, all hairs are naturally a different length. Since they cannot all be the same length, as you go down your ponytail there are fewer and fewer hairs to contribute to the thickness. Some people have more follicles or follicles with very long growth cycles and can grow hair that looks thicker at tailbone than someone else with fewer follicles or a shorter follicle cycle.
Some taper is caused by damage, diet, stress, or some other controllable environmental factor. Once those factors are addressed, we are limited by our genetics to how thick our hair looks at different lengths.
