How do I measure my hair.

I do not know if this is the right subform for this, I am sorry if I have posted it in the wrong place. I am looking to add some detail to my profile, however how do I measure the length of my hair? Do I just grab a strand and measure it from root to tip?

There are instructions somewhere around here, but I'm not sure where . . .
I believe you measure from your hairline (the top of your forehead) to the ends of your hair. That, apparently, gives a more reliable and accurate gauge than from the crown of your head (which could shift a bit more, depending on how you hold the ruler). I also think it helps to have a friend measure down the back

I measure with a a soft tape measure and hold the tip of the tape at the hairline on my forehead (widow's peak) and bring the tape over my head and down my back to the very teeny tiny tip of my hair. Mine is currently at 36.5 inches.
