I don't think it is thin
The thin ends are hard to see in my terrible photo. There is a pretty clear demarcation between the main bulk of my hair and the last eight inches. Now don't get me wrong, it's not ultra-thin, but it is comparatively thin and a notable difference from the way my hair growth has been in the past.

I lather a dandruff shampoo onto my scalp, then leave it in while I massage the clarifying shampoo into the length. I rinse it out and I'm done! No conditioner at all. I wash my hair once a week. I occasionally add a bit of jojoba oil onto the ends of my hair while its still damp.

Before I switched to shampoo only, the conditioner (or at least, I assume it was the conditioner) would build up so badly that I was unable to run my fingers through my hair for more than a few inches, even immediately after detangling that section of hair. As you might imagine, I almost never styled my hair because it was next to impossible to braid without causing instant and substantial tangles. The bristles of my Tangle Teaser brush would get covered in the weird sort of waxy buildup, and from that, I could see that the build up on my hair clung to lint, which I suspect aided the creation of tangles. It was a miserable time and it made me very seriously consider a drastic haircut.

Before I discovered my current shampoo combo, I tried a variety of sulfate free shampoos in an effort to treat my dry scalp. I think they made the build up situation even worse because they were often more "gentle" against the waxy build up. I don't know why it took me so long to try a dandruff shampoo, my scalp was almost instantly happier.

That's so interesting that you can make do with just shampoo, and clearly your hair is very happy with it. I am intrigued; do you have soft water?
My yearly trim was very recent and I cut a couple inches off. Thank you!

I have very medium water Not the hardest water I've lived with, but we do get a bit of mineral buildup on the faucets.

Update: I fixed to photo in my previous post! Same picture but a little bit better quality. Still not great though

Made it to terminal length at mid-calf, now I'm maintaining at my favorite length: Classic!

    Beautiful, Ligeia!
Did you hike with it down or just take it down for the picture and put it back up?

Edit: Whoops, wrong thread. That's what I get for having multiple tabs open at once.
