Hi all,
Here is my 2-month update (a day early):
June 2023:
April 2023:
The last 4 inches of my hair are very damaged and need to be cut off, and it's so tempting some days!![]()

I haven't checked in for a very long time and I see that the length threads have been restructured. I think this is the right one for growing to waist length? Anyway I'm less than two months from hitting waist length curly and well past that wet, so that will be an exciting milestone to reach soon.
I've been struggling the past few months on whether to call waist or not. A few months ago, I noticed I was starting to creep towards my natural waistline, but I wasn't sure if I was actually there or not. A couple of factors are in play. I don't know if I have a short or balanced torso, and I feel like my natural waist is fairly high. Also, I tend to let my pants ride below my hip bones, so that kind of throws my perspective of the waist line off
-here's where I think my natural waist falls based on my torso taper and where I crease when I bend side to side.
-and here's where my hip line lies
-And my most recent progress picture
-Using some pixel measurements, math, and a photo editor, I marked where my waist line is based on my towel.
I'd say it's there, but just barely. It's that deep V playing tricks on me. Not sure how much longer I'll let it grow before doing some trimming to even out the V and get the hemline a little more uniform. Or maybe I'll just say eff it, and let the deep V ride all the way. I'm conflicted on it
LongLocke, I have the same dilemma. I have a "V" hemline--instead of the "U" I used to have--due to damage, and I can barely finger comb my hair most days because of it. But I'd lose 8 months of progress if I cut! I think if it starts costing too much time and effort to manage I will trim.
It looks like you're so close to waist that if I were you, I would let it be--as long as you're not super frustrated with it.

LongLocke I’m having troubles identifying my waist too - is it right between my ribs and hips (the crease when I bend), or is it where my body fat is at its narrowest point? There’s a couple of inches in between the two…
Tough call and I suppose it just depends on what it feels like to you.
If having your ends just about cross your waist line feels like you have WL hair, then you have WL hair. If you need more of the V to be there to feel it, then you’ll probably be there in a month or two![]()
