Exactly! I measure my hair pulled straight to be more consistent. I’ll be following you over to the WL threads with my next month’s photo’s.

I’m so glad I had a good growth month after barely any in the spring.

Now, one more inch will really feel like waist, and will be to my elbows, and look WL even at it’s waviest.
Vara La Fey & thatsideoflife, I am falling into the camp of realizing WL isn’t quite long enough as well!
So that's 2" of growth in 4-6 weeks??? OMG. If you can keep that up, you'll meet any hair goal you have before you even realize it, like you just did. :-)

That moving-goal camp seems to be a big one around here! I think most of us are in it. My own personal reasons are to see if my hair will actually get past my beltline (and if i can stand having that much of it), and because of the contouring. I think the ideal teasing show-off length is when the hemline touches the top of the rear curves, like in this Pinterest capture I will try to include. To me that's attitude, excitement, sex appeal and general flowing esthetics all in one. Anything less seems a little incomplete to me.

Maybe it's just one of my quirks, but I doubt it. It's at least part of the reason all those gorgeous young Instagram models grow their hair like that.

THIS ^^^ IS NOT ME - just one of my "contouring" role models.

Oh god no!! I think I measured 26” back in Jan? So about 6 months to gain 2 inches. I think it looks like more because I have a short torso… it’s really only 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch at most.

I enjoy the look of that length, too. It’s so pretty!

I’m undecided if I’ll grow it that long, since I enjoy wearing mine free when it’s not too hot or windy. I fear the damage would be hard to keep up with past HL. Keeping in mind that my HL is only 31” or 32” so about the length as some peoples WL

BTW, I'd think you could still wear it free at waist, hip or tbl, though I've got no experience with this. I say try it and see, and let us know.

You'll reach tbl way before I reach waist, as mine is a 37" journey - and now I'm looking at adding 4-5" more so I can reach beltline. Geez! Well.... I must be patient, I must be patient, I must be patient....

Hello everyone! I'll be joining this thread and I think I'll stay quite a bit around here .

There are a few things at the moment that are bothering me about my hair, and these will make my journey to waist somewhat longer. First, I have some breakage around my layers. Secondly, I have a love-hate relationship with layers, and I don't know if I want to keep them or not. What I really know is that I'm very fond of this length and will certainly not cut it shorter than what length I am now. So I will either microtrim only the longest layer until my shorter ones catch up (and then my hair will be all in one length), or I'll microtrim everything to get rid of the split ends (so my hair will have the same haircut, it'll just be healthier).

I really don't know what to do. I keep changing my mind every other day . Anyways, I won't touch scissors until at least the end of September, because I have my graduation then and I want longer hair for the pictures. Until then, I still have time to decide.

Diana Prince, your hair looks great! I would never guess you were struggling with splits, it looks healthy from the photo. Some hair does just seem to split easier.

I went back and forth for a while about maintaining or growing out my layers, and still do! I have been micro trimming this year, and did my hemline mostly each cut, and once did a compact cut/ponytail cut to get the layers a little bit since my shortest are too sort toS&D, I wasn’t sure how many splits they were getting. I figure I’ll compromise and kinda do every-othe-time micrto trim the layers going forward? Still deciding! I have decided to start maintaining my length with my next cut in late Sept to attempt to let some of the layers catch up and cut out bleach damage. It’s slow progress…

I'd say get it one length first, and if you don't like it without layers then you can cut them back in

Thank you! An congrats to reaching WL, your hair looks so nice and flowy .

My hair doesn't really split easily, as the splits are in the layers that still got a bit of old hair dye, about 1-2 cm (I used to bleach my hair in the past). That's why I don't see splits at the longest layers, where I've cut off all of the dye. So yeah, my hair is very sensitive to bleach, but it holds well to other types of damage.

Well, progress is progress, that's what I try to tell myself when I get impatient. At least we're in this together, and we will eventually reach our goals .

Yeah, I think I'll probably do this, but the next day the other idea sounds just as promising . I've never been this undecided in my life!

    @Diana Prince

Your hair is gorgeous. And it's so straight and silky. And I totally feel you about changing your mind every other day lol! I still haven't seriously touched a pair of scissors to give a good trim yet after so long.
