Default Vinegar rinse made my hair greasy

I did a vinegar rinse to get rid of my dandruff (it really is dandruff. no dry scalp) and it did work but it also made my hair greasy.
i don't know what's worse greasy hair or dandruff.
I guess i had to dilute it in water even more...

I also used white rice vinegar instead of apple cider. Maybe that vinegar was stronger...

I went in the shower again later (no shampoo) but it is still greasy.

My question is: what is the best way to get rid of the greasiness?

My guess is shampoo but maybe there is some other trick as well.

I need something that really works. i don't want to go out with hair like this. Sorry, if this is a really stupid/dumb question. i'm still learning.

How much did you dilute the vinegar? I use 1 part white vinegar in 19 parts of water for a weak rinse and 1 part white vinegar in 9 parts of water for a strong rinse.

It sounds like your rinse was too strong.

I am useless on vinegar strengths. I used to pour 50% vinegar over my head (granted, when I was trying out baking soda to wash), and my current approach involves a spray bottle and anything from 10% to straight white vinegar, with any further dilution from the fact that my hair is already soaked.

Possibly I should try ACV again at one of the weaker dilutions, though. Last time, I kept having red coming off my hair onto my comb and towel no matter how much I rinsed. My hair was fine, though, it was just messy!

Perhaps vinegar rinses just don't work for you. I've tried them several times, I even diluted it down to 1 part vinegar and more than 20 parts water. It still didn't work. It always makes my hair lank and greasy and generally disgusting no matter what strength I use. My hair and vinegar just don't mix.

Definitely dilute your rinse. I can't remember the exact dilutions, but I think the shampoo bar thread has some listed.

    I hope that helps!

Another vote to dilute more. I know I used too much when my hair feels greasy. I do a capful in a plastic cup usually.

How about shampoo and then rinse with vinegar? Vinegar is supposed to restore the acid mantle, but also get rid of shampoo/soap residues.

My scalp is also getting oily after vinegar rinse or any other acid rinse. Ma face too.
Its hard to choose living my hair soaked in hard water or do vinegar rinse but wash more often.

Very interesting. I had no idea that too strong vinegar rinse can make your hair greasy. I thought the opposite would happen and too strong a vinegar rinse would dry out the hair. But I just made very strong vinegar rinse and that left my hair greasy. Happy to find an explanation. Although I don't understand it and it seems illogical.

You only need enough vinegar to make the water very slightly tangy if you taste it, maybe 1/2 teaspoon for a couple cups water
