I voted "other" because wearing my hair up wasn't connected with length, but with the new awareness that I got in the time of finding the LHC.
SL
APL
BSL
Waist
Tailbone
Other (let us know!)
I don't know if a ponytail is considered protective or not, but it is kind of for me. I started a few weeks ago and the bottom layer of my hair is a little past chin length.

I started at BSL wearing my hair most time in an up do.
I'm at tailbone now(well, it's a few inches past tailbone) and I just started wearing my hair up. I actually took the challenge and it's fun.(Previously I used to wear it down a lot..I mean in braids or half ups) My main concern was, I could sit on my hair when its wet and I wanted to protect it. Wearing my hair up has made a huge difference in my hair, especially my ends couldn't be happier.
So, finally what I wanted to say is I love wearing my hair up!
When I was somewhere between BSL and waist, but that was the time I joined LHC, too. I didn't know (or care, to be honest) much about how to protect my hair before that. I voted waist.
Tailbone.
Because i had just joined LHC and didn't realise that wearing my hair down was so bad for hair !
As soon as the length allowed. Not because I considered it protective but because I like al kinds of updo's and I have long hair in order to be able to do them.
Well, my hair really started to get in the way around BSL...
I pretty much put my hair up when it gets close to APL to protect it. At the same time, I do like my hair best worn down, so if I'm going somewhere nice, I wear it down. But for every day, up it goes. And it really has made a difference.
I chose SL, though when I had short hair I would keep it up/back with a wide cloth head band.
I hate having my hair down for long periods of time, the back of my neck gets overheated and the hair falls in my face. So, it's not protective, per se. I was doing ponytails from the time I could manage one a little past chin, up until a couple of days ago when I learned the Gibson Tuck on LHC! I got my Flexi8s in the mail yesterday, so I will be wearing it up everyday from now on.
