n3m3sis42, you're very welcome! This combination seems to be working very well for me. Yesterday I coated my hair pretty well and braided it because today was wash day. Washed out easily with my usual routine!
I just made a batch of this, using 2T shea butter, 2T Biolage conditioning balm, and 1T jojoba oil.
I hope this works well; between shea butter and cocoa butter, I have enough ingredients to last a lifetime!

I'm just wondering, is it best to use a protein free conditioner? My conditioner is cone-free but does have protein....

That should be just fine My Jason stuff has protein in it and it works like a dream. I know other's have used Henna and Placenta conditioner, which has lots of protein, with good results. So, so long as your hair likes protein, you should be good to go.

Question... Do you use your normal rinse-out conditioner for this mix? Or do you use some sort ofleave-in conditioner? Does it make a difference? And would it hurt if I use my normal rinse-out conditioner with the shea as leave-in?
Ok...my hair hates shea.I've tried over and over again and it still just doesn't dig it. I've done this recipe before but my question is: Does anyone make this recipe without the shea and if you do,what do you replace it with?

Well, here I go! I used jessicurl.com's Too Shea conditioner, coconut oil and pure shea butter. I "oopsed" w/ the Too Shea, so it turned out pretty much equal parts, but I think that will be okay.
Have to share......I bought a neat little measuring device at my local Pyrex outlet store a while back. It's a little "shot" glass, but it has measurement lines all around it. Worked perfectly to both measure and heat the mixture! And if there's any left over, I can cover it and store in the refrigerator. I made only 3 teaspoons, so probably will use it all today.
I'm going to remove my nail polish before I start, and plan to condition my nails at the same time.
Wish me luck! The hard part is going to be rinsing it out. I will probably end up having to shampoo.....

I checked this thread out yesterday, but didn't post. Today is my wash day, but I couldn't oil last night. So, this morning I mixed up a small batch of "CV EarthBlend Shea Butter, Virgin Coconut Oil, and VO5 Vanilla Mint Tea Clarifying Conditioner" if I do this again, I'll probably use a more natural conditioner. I scritched my scalp, and then massaged the blend in to my scalp, and then added it to my length. I have not shed in months, but today I lost a ton of hair (worried). My hair is now up in a clip. I'm planning on keeping it this way all day and washing this evening. I have not used commercial shampoos for a year now, have a CV shampoo bar, but usually do CO or WO. My questions are:
How will I get this out of my hair tonight?
Why do you think I lost so much hair during the application?
