Beautiful braid! I love the asymmetry and how even & smooth it looks!

    Everything about this is thudworthy!

You might try for a larger first loop in your seashell? Or loops a little closer in size? I'd love to see your seashell bun.

    Seriously, beautiful hair!

Thank you! Watching the Hunger Games made me want to learn how do dutch braid, so this is how I always wore them and still do most of the time lol
The evenness is usually hit or miss, because my tactile sensations are often wrong lol but this time the result made me take a photo

Thank you so much! Here is a more successfull try: https://forums.longhaircommunity.com...5&d=1597265244

Yes, you are right about the first loop. I ususally braid without a mirror and it felt like I was going more horizontal than I actually did. Also, I tried to get to hold it with a stick, but I think a fork does a better job securing everything.

Side Dutch braid, turning 4 stranded transverse braid at the nape.

I'd be interested in seeing a pic of the join between your 3 and 4 section braids. I've never been able to make the transition well if the numbers don't share a common divisor

I have that problem too, but it was actually quite simple here. By the time I reached the nape, I had braided in 3/4 of my hair, and instead of joining the final 1/4 into the existing 3 strands, I added it in separately as its own strand. This made the transition look really seamless. I'll try and get a pic from the back or side next time to show you what I mean!

That's inventive, I like it. My problem of relative primes may be solved here so please do!

    That looks amazing!

ETA: I’d also love to see it from the back
