Short hair is great to practice french and dutch braiding I found! Challenging but hair strands don't get in the way as much along the way which helps if you're a little out of practice.

Here's tonight's french braid vs one from January, feels like progress
(can see the obvious slant towards my dominant hand with the extra length though hey)

Good progress and a very neat braid.

Illicitlizard that’s a lovely braid - I’d be overjoyed with the before version as I can’t do Dutch or French braids! Nice to see the progression in length too.

Tatsu your braids are always impressive. Another version I’ve yet to attempt. Do you put anything on it before plaiting to prevent shred?

Thank you! Sometimes, but I usually add aloe vera gel and oil after I braid it. It still shreds but I find this to reduce it the most.

My hair is solidly chin-length with tons of layers, but I'm still stubbornly trying to braid it because I love braids. Today I tried dutch-braiding my bangs back:

Clearly I need to practice getting them straight and even Gotta start somewhere though!
