Default Using CO after a Coconut Milk Soak?

I'm really sorry if this has already been asked (I did a search and scanned the thread in the archives but I couldn't find anything) or if it's in the wrong forum.

I found a can of coconut milk today and I was thinking about doing a Coconut Milk soak. Everything I've read says to shampoo it out.. but I hardly ever use shampoo and would like to refrain Is it absolutely necessary? What if I only put the milk on my length and not my scalp?

    Thanks in advance

Well, I soaked in coconut milk and then tried to wash it out with a poobar and that was horribly insufficient. I know CO gets oil out, but Coconut Milk is a bit richer. I had to use poo.

I had to use shampoo and some manipulation (Folding and squeezing repeatedly). My coconut milk had some solid bits and was very rich and it was low fat so whole fat I imagine would be even more "buttery".
