I self-trim. It's cheaper, I get just what I want, and I don't need to leave the house.
I self-trim.
My SO/family member/friend trims my hair.
I go to a salon.
I don't trim my hair, I just cover it in cheese!
There have been a few threads over in the Mane forum lately about trims (it's that time of year!), and I was wondering how the stats pan out for LHC members on how many self-trim, have someone close to them trim it, or go to a salon, and why, really.
I self-trim, I've had one too many bad salon experiences.

I self-trim too. It's cheap and I don't trust hairdressers much anymore. Feye's method for trimming worked well until I reached tailbone lenght. Now I prefer JJJLongHair's (known here as LadyLongLocks) trimming method for longer hair.

I self trim because it's cheaper and more convenient. If I wanted anything other than a basic u-shaped hemline, I'd probably go to a hairdresser.

My momma trims my hair.
My mom has trimmed my hair for the last 3 years or so, starting when I decided to grow my hair long. Before that I went to a hairdresser.
In January, though, I will be attempting my first self-trim. Wish me luck...
My mom trims my hair, because it is cheaper then a salon, and I would probably botch a self-trim...
I self-trim. I've never had a really bad salon experience (unless you count when I was ten and my mom got me an 80's poodle-perm...which ended up in me having to get a shoulder-length cut about two months later), but I really have trust issues in a lot of areas of my life and I'm just used to having to do everything myself.

Most of the time a friend do it for me. Once a year I go to Enchantress, a long hair salon in Ohio, and get it trimmed. I've also self trimmed too. It just depends. I'm comfortable having my friend trim it. She takes her time. I think she gives me an honest evaluation of the condition of my ends. She will take pictures for me. So much less stress than going to a salon and I don't feel like I am on display in a salon.
