Thanks, all of you. Yes, the unsolicitated advice is what got to me, I think. I'm not always a fan of other people's hairstyles, but I don't go around telling them unless they ask for an opinion. I think for people with mainstream views about hair it's hard to make out a difference between for example bcl and classic. For them it's all bud-length, but they don't see the two years of growth it takes to get there. So my reasoning that I'm growing past my current length to cut back to it didn't make sense to them in the slightest
lol These coworkers actually used to have quite long hair themselves, waist+ even, maintained for years, so with a thick hemline. Their length always seemed unreachable for me, but both have cut back recently to apl/bsl for reasons I don't know.
Talking about unsolicitated opinions
lol Went to a metal concert yesterday with this hairstyle:
The metalheads were a lot less strict about my taper

During the break, it felt like someone had picked up my braid and let it go, because it suddenly started swinging. A couple of minutes later, a woman approached from behind, took my braid in her hands and kept petting it. She said something like: "Oh my god, how did you do that? It looks like fish bones. That's so cool." Adimttedly, it could have been a bit inv asive to just pick up someone's hair, but in this setting it was okay and tone of voice was super friendly.
