air driers: towel or no towel?

I just gently squeeze the length with a towel after no more water comes out from squeezing the hair with my hands. If I'm going to go for a curlier look sometimes I'll very gently wrap it in the towel CG "hair plop" style for five or ten minutes, trying to minimize any of the towel rubbing against the hair, and press gently to encourage absorption. Then I'll gently scrunch in a little conditioner mixed with a splash of water, followed by gel.

No matter how I dry my hair, including air drying, I must first (gently) wring out the dripping, excess water from my hair with a towel! Or at least a T-shirt.

I use a microfiber turban for like 10-20 min, or my hair would just drip all over the floor
