I could use some growing advice! For reasons I can only speculate, I have a LOT of split ends. I know I need a trim but here's my question:

How does one "trim" when hair is all sort of lengths, wavy, wurly, and "ends" could be anywhere from the longest length to 2-3-4 inches away from the "end"? I can see that splits are maybe a 1/4" away from the end of that particular hair but you'd need to chop your whole head off to get the splits taken care of from shorter strands.
These pics were about 10 years ago... Trying again from similar to that short pic.

You could trim all strands at one go but that as you note overcuts many. So chop each hair one at a time as needed. It's known as S&M

Yes, it does seem S&D is what I need but I can't do it on myself. Other than the front, my hair isn't long enough for me to see it all. I'm wondering if I can pay a salon to do it for me. Something akin to a diva cut.

I've seen people S&D by twisting small sections of hair and then trim the splits that stick out of the twists. This might make it easier to do in the mirror. But it would still leave sections at the back that are hard to see and reach.

I don't want to sound negative, but I would be surprised if you found a hairdresser that would S&D for you.
Grow grow grow, where it stops no body knows.
