and from a typical guys cut 16 months ago, where the front probably didn't cover the whole forehead to this....can barely get it in a pony, and if the wind blows or I turn my head fast the front parts pop out....grrrrrrrr

Yes those are all good points by xanthochromia. I can't use those big clips that she showed, because I get the same pulling thing. I call them pain hairs. keep us updated if you decide to try a smaller clip!

I finally got a length pic for the first time since March and I am heartened. There IS a difference! These are both brushed out.

What about the Gibson tuck? I usually tie it with a satin scrunchie, which is both delicate and gives a bit of padding to hair that is not yet very long.
I'm also experimenting with braid taping, and it is quite comfortable.
