This video was super helpful to me when getting my rag curling technique right. For me, putting the ends of the hair inside the fabric before rolling has been absolutely key. Have fun with the curls!

I have curly hair, but back when I used to straighten and I wanted a nice wave I used to comb it straight when wet, let it dry almost all the way put in a little hair cream, moose or gel type stuff, and put it back in a low scrunchi. I'd put in in a ponytail and pull the tail almost all the way through then let it dry like that. When I took it out it had nice soft waves in it.

You might try making 5 sections damp with setting lotion, twisting the length of each and pinning up into small mini-buns. After 4-6 hours, loosen, shake et voila!
