I used to have a Jaws-themed bun cage (shark mouth, harpoon hair stick) but I have no idea what happened to it.

I started looking at bun cages on Etsy and found this absolute stunner. I don't have a spare $200 but if I did...

    Hi Hellabore,

this scottish-inspired Thistle buncage I like very much. And it is even soldered, not just wire-wrapped. For your length it could match, but I always would recommend to measure out one's bun, before buying such wire work stuff, because mostly, like in this picture, it looks very flat and you may never know, if the camera perspective will trick you. Liubov writes "super large" but there are nor further measurements given and "super large" is kind of relative and sometimes even less than that. This is a relative new shop, so I guess she just doesn't know about sizes in this regard. For this one is made to order, you or whoever is interested, should always measure out the length and the heigth of the bun intended to be worn with this.

And also important: before you place such a custom order, ask for a fork instead of a stick to hold the cage. Sticks of this kind, when having to hold much and heavy hair, tend to bend and to curve away from the head. In this case you could lose or damage your buncage when falling down. This you can avoid with a fork, because a two prong hair fork can not only be curved according to the head's curve, it will also be much more stable than a single hair stick of likely very thin wire. Just the curvature will make sure that the buncage will not slip off the fork's tines, especially if the ends and the topper are curved a bit more than the middle rest of the fork. For my forks of copper, I always ordered some with 8 gauge of wire (3,2 mm). This would be quite heavy for this kind of cage, but 11-13 gauge (1,8 - 2,3 mm) would be fine.

The sturdiness of a fork depends also on, how much the copper is hammered. I have copper forks of the same gauge - some of them are very sturdy and others very easy to bend. So it is not only the money but also much talks before such a buncage comes into being.

Here a buncage from Ann Titova Design with a big smokey quartz, which was also a custom order.

For her it was very large, as she told me, but it is still a bit small in my hair.

    regards
