What about the glittery pieces, Diamonds, Superstars, Primaveras, Multistripes?
A few years ago they were easily worth $100 or more. Now there seems to be less interest in old Ficcares they sell for similar prices to new ones. It's a supply and demand thing I suppose. I do think the glittery ones can still be worth a lot (like $200+), especially if they're in perfect condition. Some of these clips would be nearly 20 years old and would have chipped or tarnished even if not worn.

Any time Ficcare release a new collection similar to old ones I think the demand for old ones (say, lotus, primavera or border) decreases. People would rather have a brand new one I suppose.

Oh and Joliebaby you don't have to defend your hairtoy collection. We're all in the same boat here. I wish I have easy access to Ficcares. Being in Canada makes it easier (or more difficult) to control hairtoy spending. Nobody sells them here and I don't want to pay customs for them.

I think I'm defending it to myself

There is not much for sale on ebay now, but I see that the asking price for one old style primavera is 180+.. but it isn't selling at that price, at least not very fast. I get that the super rare ones are expensive, mostly the glitteries, if they won't be made anymore. If I came across the Turquoise Diamond, I would surely pay a pretty penny for it.
I'm glad they are producing many styles and colors now and I totally missed to infamous Ficcare drought!

On another note, I think I could make double buns and hold them with the small clips, at least at this length.

It's a Latte, I thought about stone or silky sahara sand but I wanted something very light and neutral & I'm happy I went with it. ^^

Here there's some selling for 50/60ish Euros (aka some more dollars) and then there is a gap and the rest starts at 150, goes up to 300. Would never pay that though, I think ~100 is my personal max. so chances of me aquiring something second hand are slim. But I'm really scared to spend money in general, I only do when I don't think about it beforehand & I really have to at the moment, we're renovating our flat and most of the money has to go towards that.

OMG, my hair is still quite short -- not quite shoulder length -- and has lots of layers. But I want all the pretties everyone is collecting!

Joliebaby, I love that dark amethyst and the chevron. The latter would look cool in a braided bun.

Oh, I have to make one! Since I learned the Nautilus, that is all I have done. It may not look like one, but that's how I do it

Neoma, you could get some smalls, I just bought my first small even though my hair is longer than ever. And I think I want a couple more, to wear double buns, and side-ups, and I think they will be cute "helper clips" when my hair is even longer and I might need another clip with the Large. I adore the small, it's so delicate and cute!

Ah, yes! It is an intriguing color, and excellent choice for you!

I don't actually know what I would pay, should one of my unicorn clips come around. I'm not willing to pay a lot more for old style regular Primavera or Lotus or Border, just for the small differences. Except I did pay quite a bit for the old dark amethyst Lotus, because I got a bit obsessed about the color And it was before I realized I could probably mod my own Jewel colors. Anyway, I do love the old gold tone!
The small Gold Jewel was a little bit more expensive than current collection, but not too bad, as smalls seem to be priced more reasonably, and more readily available, in the secondhand market. Maybe I will get lucky and find at least small ones in some of my unicorns! I can always wear them in side-ups or as an accent / helper clip!

I chose the dark amethyst Lotus again today, because it goes beautifully with the top I chose to wear. The top is my rare black piece and it has terracotta, ochre and ivory pattern. It's one of my favorite clothes, even though it has no bright colors. I just love the shape and pattern and it's a lovely fabric too.
The gold Jewel would have been perfect a well, but I wanted to put my hair fully up. I'm also wearing a wide gold velvet headband thingy. And a denim skirt.

    Thanks aeryss

Now I need to figure out a storage for my hair thingies. We have a small laundry /dressing room next to the bathroom and I think I'm going to put something up in the wall there. I have an idea

I think that would look really nice, Joliebaby. Please share a pic!

Sadly, my hair is too short even for a small right now. Too many layer in baby fine hair...

I have two pairs of Mini Maximas (Ficcare calls them "pins"). I've worn the enameled pair every day since I got them. I haven't worn the silver ones, yet.

I still have a medium silver that I hope to grow into again. I may get a small when my hair grows out a little. If nothing else, maybe I can make a peacock twist with it sometime in the not-too-distant future!
