Other folks who are more knowledgeable in the world of ficcares may be able to explain better, but as far as I can tell at one point the company stopped putting teeth on the top half of the clip and instead the clip is now smooth inside on both halves. I was a little concerned that since they’re rather heavy it might not hold well without teeth (my hair really likes to drop hair toys; I’ve lost so many because they just fall out and I don’t realize until it’s too late and they’re gone!).

Thank you I was really curious. I used to drop hair sticks, too. The unknown metal ones from eBay (but I usually find them. I guess it's hard for other people to see metal on asphalt? They seem to fall out when I get out of a car) fell out a lot. I couldn't tell because I was using other things to hold up the bun. Now that I know about LHC Hair Toys (TM), they don't fall out without me knowing (because they're the only thing holding up my hair! It's so wonderful!).

The new Maximas are exactly the same as the old ones, all with teeth on upper half. The "old ones" are just discontinued colors and patterns so they might be more collectable. The new Ficcarissimo don't have teeth but I found that they work quite well, too. Either the new or old Superclip have no teeth but have very strong springs.

Thank you! I didn't know and was really curious. I guess you need teeth to hold...but then it'd be easier to slide something in with out teeth? *wanders off to look up Ficcare "Superclip"*

I've had a number of my Ficcares change color. I have an extensive collection (close to 400 clips) and I've found that some of my ivory colored clips have turned pink. They aren't ugly, they just aren't Ivory. Ficcare replaced one of them for me after I sent them pictures, and the replaced clip has now turned pink as well.

Annoying, they are expensive, so I didn't expect them to discolour.

I finally, after wanting one for 12 years, bought an opal lotus ficcare maxima clip. I'm so excited for it to come in the mail! I got a large so it's probably too large for me right now but whatever, it's so exciting to have a ficcare after seeing all the beautiful clips in this thread over the years! That sale was perfect timing!

I've been thinking about the sale...have any of you tried the mini-maximas? How good are them for holding up bangs etc.?
