The last time I actually got a good colour from henna was about 1999 or thereabouts... but I could not find that sort of pure henna in the store again and it was lost to me. Even the upmarket health food places sell an adulterated product here. I would love to get that colour again. In the 1980s my mum always hennaed her hair with stuff my aunt brought from Saudi Arabia; I was warned it would turn my then dark blonde hair bright orange, but i loved watching her apply it. After the Lush damp squib experience I started researching and I wanted yemeni henna; searched the internet and of course it can't be found and tragically it doesn't look like things will be settling down any time soon. I read more than seems healthy about henna deciding what and whether... including hundreds of your posts, and tonight is the night. I went with Hennacat's premium organic rajasthani powder. I did a strand test and it is rich and intense, but of course will take a few days to settle down...
I've been a bit self conscious about my hair as I had some hair loss as a result of health things but that is growing back in now... I also have a fringe (bangs, American people :-) growing out, although the fringe was actually quite excellent and looking at the photos I would consider cutting it again. For now it will not be cut at all. Ordinarily I don't cut my hair but somehow I seem to get the urge and chop it all off around every seven years. The last cut was about two years ago, but since then the health stuff and thinning I mentioned meant I have trimmed and messed with it more than usual.
I wouldn't usually bother with posting photos of hair but your forum is so informative and useful with such a lovely sense of community that I thought why not! Great inspiration. Now I need to figure out how to get photos up. Thanks for this great resource and to everyone posting for their input x
