"You look like a mermaid," from my hairdresser and my friend/coworker. Always makes me smile.
That's so sweet Sarah!
Now that the thread has been bumped -- my husband gave me a nice compliment the other day. He said my hair is beautiful all the way to the ends and that my hem is thicker than I think. (I chatter away about hair to him so he knows I can be self conscious.) And when I thanked him he said my hair is really nice so it's easy to say nice things about it.
I know he's contractually obligated to be nice to me (lol) but it still meant a lot.

Most of my nicest compliments have been from people here! Things like "I love the colour!" or "it looks silky and soft!" and of course coming from other hair enthusiasts, those comments mean a lot to me <3
Just trying to get by
That time that I went to my hairdresser after not cutting my hair for 1.5 years, and she said that there was little to none damage Good times!
The hairdresser at the salon on Saturday referred to my hair as "goals."
And one of my hair icons on Instagram commented that my hair looks exceptionally healthy and I must take good care of it.

I was once doing fieldwork (ethnomusicology research) in a church service. After the service, a member of the congregation to whom I had been introduced at the beginning of our project came up to me and pointed to an old man. "He didn't want to bother you, but Mr. Harris is a hundred and two years old and he told me that your hair is the prettiest hair he's seen in his whole life." I know exactly what she said because my audio recorder was still running, lol! I still have that audio clip on my computer somewhere.
"Your hair reminds me of Ariel!" someone said on the subway to me today.
She is my favorite so that was really touching to me
My hair is auburn..haha I wish it was like Ariel's!

I was in the original Aruba Aloe factory/store last week with my son's teenaged girlfriend (who I've introduced to Proper LHC Hair Care in the past two years, and she's added six inches or more to her length as a result).
While explaining about CO-washing with a store-worker (sadly, while I love their skincare products, their conditioners aren't 'cone-free, so not an option for me), the woman looked at me, looked at son's GF, and told me to keep doing what we're doing because we have gorgeous hair like Rapunzel and she's going to look into CO-washing for herself because she struggles to get any length on her (natural, African) hair.
BTW, very interesting to take their tour and learn about how aloe is processed.... if you've never seen an aloe leaf be filleted, it's really interesting!
(And if you have an aloe plant of your own at home, do you know to wash off the yellow sap before using the aloe gel?)
Since relinquishing my bottle blond of 30 years I have grown out my natural color with lots of grey. I have always thought my natural color was just like a mouse. I guess it is a little better with some grey because I often get compliments on what a lovely color. It kinda helps me to appreciate it a tad more. In my heart I am a red head! Blond second choice. Mouse Yuck!
