We have similar hair types. I would also like my lower lengths to gain a bit more thickness
Well, I've been here a long time (sometimes I don't get how they still put up with me ), so that's one thing that makes me know a lot of stuff by now. I don't claim, not by far, to know it all, no way, I might be loud but I'm humble.

It can't be anything else, because that was the only thing I was actively doing to my hair. I think the twisting was too tight, because I don't have the issue at the base of the bun. So I'm stuck with a 4 inch circumference and very thin ends, which makes me have this "bulky" peacock twist. My hair in other words sort of "gathers" in my neck area. It's too heavy for the claw clip (can't fit in it), but my ends do, and so... it's a bit of a struggle ATM, but I'll get through it.

The fact that it's still 4 inch at the base does mean I'm getting my thickness back, so I just have to be really patient.

And you are very kind for saying that I'm knowledgeable, thank you.

Ooh noted. I know in the past I've been known to twist too tightly in an attempt to make a bun stay when I really didn't have the length for it yet. I've been making a point of not over-twisting and being more gentle with my hair this past year or so and I think there's been a nice improvement in my hair so far.

Fine and thick checking in! I have the kind of fine hair that's super floaty, which is why I think I like braids so much -keeps it all together, and lets me enjoy my hair's density.
I'm looking forward to my layers growing out along with the overall length of my hair. I want one of those braids that's even thickness all the way down.

angel-baby, you have no idea how many wispy bits I have just doing a peacock twist. I have a crown of curly and wavy bits around my head. I definitely understand the floaty part!

Floaty hair sounds lovely when I imagine it, like a fairy. But I imagine it would be more difficult to manage in reality!
I have fine hair but I don't think it's floaty enough to be called floaty. I do get some puffiness and tangles and my baby hairs stick out I've been oiling it a bit lately, slightly too much, but I kind of like it that way for up does, seems to keep it a bit more tamed when up. As long as my scalp isn't oily I don't think it looks too bad

It's almost cotton candy that I wear around my head these days.

Especially on wash day, my hair does the cotton candy poof around my hairline and any hairs that are shorter/wispier do the same.

I actually saw them "poof" when I took my towel down, and I up and decided (just out of the blue) to put more styling cream on there, and it weighed it down all right (without making it oily), so a leave-in or curl cream of some type might do wonders. I have so much less floof right now! And I'm glad you said something about it, because I didn't know where else to talk about it!

Ok I washed my hair last night and I significantly reduced the oil post wash. Today I'm thinking maybe I do have floaty hair I just forgot lol.

Oh to have hair that is somewhere in between floaty fluff and oil slick instead of one of those extremes

I applied a leave in conditioner spray last night after my wash, my first time using it so I used it quite sparingly. But next time I'm going to see what happens if I use a little more I think. My hair doesn't usually like leave ins unless I'm going to wash it out right away but because this one's a spray it's pretty light I think.
