    Default HELP- LOL campaign

A local news station here has started a locks of love campaign. I can't believe that a news group wouldn't look into this before starting this campaign. The weather woman was on the news this morning talking about a red head she'd seen with long hair-- what a lovely donation (either it was or would be-- couldn't hear because of getting kids ready for school)

I figure if more than one person writes in and tells this news group about the LOL foundation, then more likely they will 'cut it out'.

What can you give me as ammunition against this?

If you want a link-- http://www.wvva.com/Community/locksoflove.php

    Humor intended....

There's a very familiar name mentioned near the end of the article.

The NY Times article above pretty much says it all, and you can simply print the text and mail it to whomever.

That way you don't have to come across totally by yourself with your own agenda.

You can highlight the zone that shows the President of Locks of Love stating the % of how much hair is tossed, and even their wigmaker, Taylormade (golf company) tosses. AND the section that says LoL isn't for cancer per se and the section of the President basically saying they have enough hair and the media misunderstands LoL's mission.

    Ah yes, so there is!

This LOL thing is something we just don't have in the UK, and i'm really glad we don't. The things i've heard on this forum about them going to schools and kids being pressured to cut their long hair off i find quite disturbing.
The thing is, there are some really good realistic synthetic wigs about nowdays.

The other thing i can never get my head around is people hastling people to cut their hair....i mean, i wonder how they would react if they had say....a car, and people just walked up and went "that car could raise money for X charity....you should donate it and take a bus instead!"

well, as the saying goes "nowt as queer as folk"
The heart would have no rainbow, had the eyes no tears.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who came in here thinking (hoping) this might be related to LOLcats even though it's in a hair forum.

I quickly figured out it wasn't though. Good luck with getting the news to stop the campaign! That sucks that they don't do their research.

I just feel so bad for people who think they are going to be doing a good thing, but the hair they grow end up being tossed or sold because it's damaged, not long enough, or LOL just plain doesn't have enough time to deal with all the hair they get. Perhaps you can suggest the Pantene one as a place to donate to, since it seems like most of the hair really does get used?

Another thing- I checked out the link, and they are cutting on July 30th. So about 4 months from now would be 2" of growth on an average head. I'm guessing the picture of the lady on the LOL banner is the one getting her hair cut- I don't think 2 more inches on her will make 10"! Not to mention, aren't most newscaster's hair chemically and heat damaged (don't want to generalize too much...but from what I hear...).

From BSL to Classic in 4 years, thanks LHC!

Jeez, when will people learn? It says you can use that email link to "join the team" to also send your personal story why you want to join.... maybe I'll use it to say why it's a bad idea. hmmm....
