It may be more related to porosity than coarseness, but maybe not; we'll see.
I have coarse, nonporous hair that prefers to be washed about once a week. My hair feels best around day 3. (But it curls best on day 1!)
I have fine hair and wash frequently (5-7x/week).
I have fine hair and wash semi-frequently (2-4x/week).
I have fine hair and wash infrequently (1x/week or less).
I have medium hair and wash frequently (5-7x/week).

Some people wash and/or wet their hair infrequently and this helps their hair be in its best condition. Other people wash and/or wet their hair frequently and this helps their hair be in its best condition. Is this related to coarseness?
Do you have fine, medium, or coarse hair and how often do you wash and/or wet your hair?
I have mostly fine hair that loves water. Washing can make it frizzy sometimes, but just wetting it down makes it much less tangly and much more moisturized and healthier.

Interesting question. I have fine hair and wash semi-frequently. My hair just looks absolutely awful if I don't wash it every third or forth day. Flat and I get scalp cleavage and sometimes dandruff, and it's also more tangly. I would not say that it's condition overall gets worse from less frequent washing though, other than tangly.
edit: oh and my hair is not that porous.
Lets see how long this little lump can get. Viva la natural!Lady Nemetona, Adept of the Henna Flame in the Order of the Long Haired Knights
I'm too new here to have much input but I usually wash every third day and if I go longer it gets greasy/flaky.
I have fine hair and usually wash everyday. I wash in the morning and by the next morning my scalp is greasy, noticeably greasy, so I have to wash it. If I'm staying at home where no one will see me I might skip a day but I HAVE to wash the next day, my scalp itches too bad.
I stopped dyeing my hair when I joined the end of March 08 which has made my hair look/feel better but has made it look greasier quicker. I'm going to assume because the dyed hair was dry and damaged?
I envy y'all that can go days without washing and still look good.

I think I'm fine/medium and course... lol ! Anyway my hair loves moisture, and feels better when wet/wash frequently.
I have very fine hair and wash 3x a week. My hair plasters to my scalp if I don't wash after 2 days which I don't really mind but I like my hair to look nice not greasy.

I have fine hair and it is best if I wash every other or every third day, so 3-4 times a week. I can do three days between washes if I'm not leaving the house, because I am a greaseball by then.
I have very fine hair and I wash either every day or every other day because if I leave it any longer it looks greasy and awful, especially with my "dirty blonde" colour.
I've tried to cut it down to every other day about a month ago, and on the 2nd day it only looks presentable worn up, so if I wanted it to look really good or wear it down on the 2nd day I'd just wash it again.
I have medium hair and wash once per week. Washing more than that causes my hair to poof, and washing less than that causes my scalp to itch.
