For me, castor oil is one of the only oils that actually softens my hair pretty instantly...

But of course its very heavy and I limit it to only my ends when its near wash day. I tried using it on my scalp but had to stop as I noticed additional shedding.

Hmmm that's an idea, "cutting" it with a thinner oil thanks gustavonut

Reviving this thread because I just started using JBCO on my scalp and length prior to washing. I've only used it a handful times and I've noticed some positive things. I actually have less shedding and my hair is much softer - softer than it's ever been. I also have lots of little baby hairs starting to sprout. Now I don't know if that's from JBCO or scalp massages but in any case, it's something I want to mention. Even if it doesn't help with hair growth, I think it's going to stay in my routine for the hair softening benefits. No other oil has made my hair this soft and I've tried olive, coconut, argan, jojoba, almond, and avocado oils.

Bat, try get your hands on castor oil that is certified organic - the rest aren't worth the energy or money.

ExpectoPatronum, castor oil did wonders for my skin too!! Just wondering if you applied it onto your scalp as well?

elfynity - I do apply it to my scalp! I try to let it sit at least an hour, though sometimes I let it sit overnight.

I am trying castor oil. Today was day one. 🤯I recently cut all of my long hair off to make it even from the buzz undercut I rocked for 3 years. I finally grew out since last year and is a bob now. I hate how short my hair is, but so far I love how the castor oil made my scalp feel. Let’s see if I get growth. I am doing the baggie method with it.

Every week, I use castor oil twice and I have a very good experience with it. Within a few months, the hair will grow very rapidly. Even, in the past, my hair never grew beyond a specific length. It has become lengthier and thicker with the use of castor oil. It’s a bit sticky but I apply it with coconut oil and keep it overnight. I would suggest, try it for a month and you can see the great result.
