I recently purchased a pair of scissors specifically for this purpose. Just before finding this thread I went downstairs and brought them up to my computer to start on a long needed S&D mission. As luck would have it, most of my splits are hiding from me.

I'm committing to keeping the scissors where I can reach them and trying to S&D at least monthly to start with. And to start keeping track of when I have the hubby do a trim for me. I just noticed that my ends are feeling kind of fried right now...

I'm a bad slacker. Trims come and go, and I put off the S&D. The problem is, I see the splits when I'm at work and THEN they annoy me! I used to carry the S&D scissors around with me but they don't fit easily into my new bag. Eh.

Does anybody do this George Michael style by twisting strands? Or do you just pick up a hank of hair and give it a squint?

I just pick up the hair and look for splits.

I used to think S&D meant Snipping and Dusting...

I bought scissors specifically for this purpose and have used them maybe five times. Must be more diligent!

I am a total slacker! I think just a few minutes a day would be helpful, but I always get distracted, or just don't feel like it.

I've bought my own hair scissors but I've been very slack with this. Firstly, I couldn't find any splits but I've realised there are split ends in my shorter layers. I am inspired by this thread to spend at least half an hour per week looking for split ends

Well, the last time I tried S&D, it gave me a terrible neckache,( my hair was too short to see the ends.) I decided to wait untill waist to try it again. (Got there, didn't do that :S )
Looking at my ends now, I feel so overwhelmed! ( Oh the fairy knots!!!! How do I cope!!!)
I'll be keeping my eyes on this thread for motivation, perhaps I will actually start S&D'ing again!

I agree that a few minutes a day would be helpful , Copasetic, for my own hair at least.
I just have to build up the habit of doing it regularly.

I've tried the techniques (well ... kinda!) for finding splits mentioned above, but find it easier to just grab a handful of hair and look for them. But then I worry about splits higher up the length that I can't seel *sigh*

I S&D as often as I can, I have the scissors on my bed side table for when I'm on my laptop

I still seem to have a lot of split ends, but that's probably because I haven't done a good S&D since I gave up straightening.

I'm due for a session soon, maybe tonight.
