    Default Do you self-trim?

Yes, since joining this site, I have now excusively self-trimmed.

My method? Very unconventional. This is the easiest way I've come up with.

I get a bunch of the foam rollers and starting at the front top, I curl my hair. Before putting the curlers in each section though, I trim/dust that section. Then wrap it up and get it out of the way. It works amazingly for me.

Don't know what I'll do though if I ever want to change the shape of my hair. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there. The nice thing about having curlier hair is that it camaflages anything that may not be quite straight or even.

    Interesting idea!

I usually have DH trim off the scraggly ends for me. I do S&D myself.

I've self-trimmed a couple of times, but only for dustings. I'm too chicken to do any major trims by myself, so I go to a trusted salon for those. For my self trims I've been using Feye's method.

I'm not comfortable with S&D yet because I'm a butcher with scissors and my own hair. I want to learn but feel safer going to a salon for now.

I self trim, and have done since the hair dresser cut WAY too much off my ends.
It's worked just fine for me .

I've been self-trimming since June 2008. I only do it when my hair feels/looks like it needs it, which seems to be every few months (a very small amount, max 1/4").

I've done one self-trim which turned out all right, and one salon trim since then, and don't plan on trimming again until I reach hip, at which point I'll self-trim to maintain there, I hope.

That's what I've been noticing about my hair too. I did it oct (?) early Novemberish...and I just did it again end of December. So I guess every two months, so far. Justalittlebit though. To get the rough/dry/splitting edges.

A few years back, when I wasn't obsessed about growing my hair long, I actually gave myself a haircut and lucked out cuz it turned out well. I went to work and everybody really liked it, but one coworker was totally amazed that I did it myself. Anyway, she went to a hairdresser and got the same cut!!! I thought that was quite a compliment. I don't think I'll push my luck though and try it again!

i try to self trim. what i do is comb my hair as straight as i can and pull it into the light and snip off any hairs that are just sticking out longer than the others or look sort of weird. i don't really have split ends or breakage since i started bunning my hair to sleep - but i do get weird hairs that seem to grow faster than the others. what i need to do is to get a real trim so that my hair isn't all jagged - but i do love fairy tale ends - so maybe i'm doing all right.
