I like the bulk of my hair to get to a milestone before calling it, though there are some racers that are already there! The middle chunk always looks shorter in pics but not in real life which is strange

I'm generally the same with that, feels more certain if all the ends are slightly passed

My guess is that it's shrinkage from your waves. It's very very subtle IMO you have a great hemline

Ah you might be right about that! Funny to think that I have any shrinkage given how straight my hair is, and thank you!

The down side is frustration hits at the "can I call it" stage xD. when I was almost at shoulder it was maddening, cutting back a bit did me a favour! More chill this time around

Tell me about it! I had that with APL, some days it was very clearly there or even a few mm below, and another day it was a cm above APL again. I think you and illicitlizard are onto something with calling it when it crosses the milestone instead of when it's right there, just to make it easier.
