Default Hobbity Hairstyles for Elvish Hair

    Hey-o, everyone!

I'm a tad overexcited to be dressing up as a hobbit for an upcoming Comicon. There's just one teeny-tiny issue: hobbits have short, curly hair, usually with bangs. My hair is quite the opposite.

It would be awesome if y'all could help me brainstorm ideas for fixing really long, straight, fringeless hair into styles that reflect hobbit-ness. I'd also like to have the styles kept close to my head so that when I have my hood up, I don't end up looking like one of the Bene Gesserit from Dune:

    Thank you!
Wishing you all love, joy, and peace!

I made the mistake of chopping my hair off to shoulder length when The Fellowship of the Ring first came out and I hated it! Never again! You can always buy a short curly wig. I did that when I dressed up as Claire from the first Jurassic World movie, since there was no way I was chopping my hair off! I was still strawberry blonde at the time, so my hair color was a bit too light, so I bought a short auburn wig. Those heels nearly killed me, so luckily it was grocery shopping day and I could hold on to the cart. Never wearing heels again, not even for a costume, I'll wear flats (much more comfortable). And here's a video on how to do a "faux bob" for just such an event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sy6LcEw2RSY

Does your hair hold braid waves? I've definitely seen some cosplays with longer hair and natural waves or braid waves.

A straw set should work. It will take a LONG time and a lot of patience, but it will eat up your length and make your hair curly. The smaller and tighter you can get the set, the shorter it'll be, and from there, you can pin up the curls and do updos and such to get the required look. It's probably a good idea to experiment with a few strands of hair first to figure out how wet your hair needs to be initially (if you do it on dry hair, they'll drop too quickly) how long it'll take to dry, and what kind of holding products (setting foam, hairspray etc.) you'll need to create/preserve the style.

This is an example of a straw set on long hair:

Hahaha I was just looking at her videos to see how tight she's been able to get heatless curls. Her recent dark siren look with decently tight curls was achieved with Cozy Curlers (which I've been wanting for a while now anyway), so I have those arriving this week (yay!). Since my hair isn't nearly as thick, I think I can get away with one pack of the extra long ones.

If that falls through I'll see about the straws lol.

Actually to say, that video makes it look so easy! Do you have any recommendations for a good setting foam or hairspray that won't weigh down the curls?

An updo with slightly brushed pin curls or something of a similar size would be perfect. Especially focusing on having some of them pinned in a way that's a bit face-framing with a faux bang sort of group of curls. My everyday clothing has become more and more hobbit-housewife as the years go by hahaha, and I also do a little headscarf triangle thing that always looks very "I've been baking in my apron all day." Especially when I've been baking in my apron all day. XD Think Cinderella tidying the house.
