That's a very pretty colour. I wish mine lightened that strongly.
My parents keep making unflattering comments about the color of my hair. Does it look unattractive? I kind of think they're just stuck on when I was a kid and it was platinum, but they're making me feel like I need to either lighten the roots or darken the ends to even it out.

Your color is gorgeous! Truthfully, it's very, very rare for someone past the age of 20 or so to have bright blonde hair. Most blonde hair is dyed. It seems unfair that you parents expect you to have the same bright platinum you did when you were a kid

I agree. Ignore your parents on this issue. Your hair is lovely.
It looks beautiful! You have a rare colour, and one that a lot of people pay a lot of money to replicate, might I add.![]()
Larki you have a beautiful hair color! People need to ditch the internalized blonde elitism. Almost no one has naturally platinum blonde hair past a certain age. Phrases like "dishwater blonde" and "dirty blonde" are terrible and demeaning. They are just meant to make women feel insecure about their natural locks so they go to the salon and spend money to damage their hair! Don't listen to your parents, your hair is lovely just the way it is <3
Your hair is lovely! When I was bleaching my hair to platinum blonde I really preferred the grown out look, with darker roots, as it looks so beautiful and dimensional when braided or in half ups. If I had that look naturally, I'd give up the dye and rock it. Just remember how many people want and admire that look, how many cool grungey models spend money to get it. My blonde hair turned "dishwater" as I aged, I'm just fortunate enough that when I had my natural color people did not comment on it unkindly.
I find a good retort to suggestions like that is "I'll think about it." My mother used to encourage me to lighten the darker hair near my scalp with Sun-In because it did the same thing as yours. I didn't mind then; I liked the lighter color better.
Thank you!
