Influencers are a part of driving these insane trends too. They're everywhere, including the hair world and they're really trying to sell all of the "miracle" products that they are currently sponsored by.
Yep, that's the truth! They constantly move the goal posts on us. And yeah, I wouldn't trust any of those "miracle" products for the most part. Companies love taking advantage of the "human billboard" model of influencers to sell whatever and anything, generally marketed to solve a manufactured problem that we've never even heard of before.

I chuckled when I heard about the new glowy skin trend. I've always been made to feel horrible because my face was so oily and shiny. People would comment on how I was "sweaty". Now I'm finally fashionable

Same same. Regardless of the style in question, I always appreciate it when I see someone simply doing their thing.

Makes me think of a quote from a show we had here some years ago, that "If I always wear the same thing, then I am modern/trendy every now and then".
and yes, one should just do their own thing and not care about what other people think.

I since I began my hair growth journey I have vowed to stay away from hair salons and do all trims myself. The stories I hear from TLHC and r/longhair are a real turnoff.
