Question Is this 1c? Could it be wavier?

Hello I haven't been here in a long time. At some point I dyed my hair, then got tired of it, cut it all off... And now I've been growing it again for the past year-2 years. I've let it just grow out in layers (otherwise it'd be like chin length lol ) , and my longest layer is now at AL.

I've always seen my hair as 1c, since it has this weird bend to it. One of the reasons I grew it out actually was that I was sick of one side bending outwards while the other did not... I looked really silly. However, with this last growth era I've been finding random wavy, almost curly hairs. Usually among the stray hairs I lose in a day, but some small, random patches are wavier too. It makes me think it may be slowly transitioning to wavy? The bulk of it is still C-shaped though, like 1 big bend as if I'd tied my hair up.

So it also makes me wonder if I could be one of those "I didn't know my hair was wavy!" people. I have the frizz... but it doesn't form ringlets when wet, and I've tried scrunching it and it only emphasizes the C shape. I tried air drying it the other day without brushing it or anything and here is the result:

The back dried much wavier than usual, but the front is pretty much the same, a bit less straight on the bendy side (picture right). As always, it air dried pretty frizzy, but I don't think it's very damaged. I rarely blow dry and rarely find any splits, and when I do they're just on the very tips. You can also see a lot of regrowth but it was thinned out when short.

I guess my questions are: Do you think this is still 1c? Is it the kind of hair that could be wavier with certain steps? Could it be naturally transitioning textures?
I've had the impression for a while that my hair would be wavier if it was less coarse, but its coarseness makes it stiff to bend (braiding it is really hard).

I'd say 1b more to me but you can always make your stats 1b/1c

It's hard to tell at this length, especially with thick hair. For what it's worth, my hair looked less wavy at APL and it's a (very lazy) 2a. As your hair grows, each individual lock will separate more from its neighbours, and perhaps start waving independently (which I think distinguishes it from "body wave").

I think that is a standard body wave, as the definition goes, so still in the 1-category. 2a would need more individual strands that are wavy, if that makes sense, these are 3 big "body waves" (first pic). 1c for sure!

barnet_fair I didn't know hair could become significantly wavier with length :0 since I always hear that curls get weighted down and stretched out. We'll have to see as it grows...
    Thanks everyone for the anwers!

    I agree with 1C.

It is true that sometimes hair gets more wavy as it gets longer, to a point. The weight of longer hair can indeed stretch out curl or wave and will at some point.

Yes, what spidermom said. It is still quite "short" to type. So if you say you re-assess at APL/BSL, that would be a good thing!

I think I'd call that 1c for sure. I think it's a bit too wavy to be 1b, but probably not quite wavy enough to be in the 2s.
But it's very pretty, whatever hair texture it is!
