Default Stupid question alert: do you get more/better attention from men with long hair?

I think I do, when I take my hair open and people can see how long it is. It's like "oh wow, I didn't know it's so long!" I think it changes the way male workers treat me in shops for example (to better). Sometimes I've really got bothered from why are those guys staring at me so long, what's wrong, but then I have come to think maybe my hair draws their attention. I guess all guys I know irl have said to me that they like it when a woman has long hair... Anyway I've also lost weight a lot lately and acquired new stylish clothes, so it's not easy to say what makes it. (I hope this didn't sound narcissistic, I just wanted to make my point clear And I'm only comparing my own situation before and now.)

All right, it's friday night, so maybe this topic is okay anyway... Could I hear your experiences or thoughts?

Definitely! I feel almost invisible know that my hair is short. Definitely doesn't help that I've started veiling my hair (for personal reasons, not religion). Before men used to stare at my hair and took care to be much nicer to me. When I first cut my hair then attention died down a bit, now its almost zero due to the headscarf. I guess the "hair theory" is completely true

Thank you for your answer I would have thought guys like scarves too, but was obviously wrong...

Of course not everyone is interested in getting more attention from men, and some women might wish exactly the opposite. But me... I want to find a good man And I feel good if I get nice kind of attention from men.

I don't think so, but A. I wear my hair "down" so rarely that I don't have a good sample size (it's pretty much always in a braid), and B. I'm unattractive in general, so having my hair down is only likely to make men find me slightly less unattractive but not enough so to have any interest. (But, to be fair, I also think I do look better in general with my hair down-- in part because then you can tell I *have* hair; otherwise with it pulled back, from the front I look like I'm either bald or have very short hair, which definitely doesn't suit me, and also because I look less severe or androgynous-- so even if I had more attention from men with my hair down, I couldn't say whether it's the hair or just the fact that look nicer that way.)

Some of you have probably seen me complain before though that for all I hear that men go nuts for long hair, I've never had a significant other who gave a crap, and in fact the last guy I was seeing dropped hints that suggested he would prefer it shorter...

I don't know about you but I definitely am not naturally attractive and it's taken a huge effort to find the better/best version of me. And takes all the time. But I believe many women keep constantly working to look good. I don't even have any time to take care of my hands, my body & face & hair is already enough or too much.

Not really. Like somebody else already mentioned, I rarely wear my hair down. I prefer it back in a ponytail, so I might get the odd comment, but it's usually from women, not men. At least most of them have "matured" and don't say that I have spiders in my hair like they did in middle school. I guess my female classmates were just jealous that my hair was prettier than theirs and they thought that bringing somebody else down would make them feel better (though it usually doesn't). The only time I have my hair down is after I've washed it, after it dries, I put it back in a ponytail. There's the occasional time I might try a different style (like a single braid), but I mostly prefer ponytails. I prefer it this way, since I get pretty sick of the comments I get when my hair is shorter: "Oh, you look so cute with short hair!" What am I, five? I may look "cute" to you, but I hate short hair (on me), since with natural curl, if it's any shorter than shoulder length (which I also don't like, because I can't style it the way I usually do, since there's not enough hair to keep it in place) will make me look like a poodle dog, so I'm keeping my hair long no matter how old I get.

Yeah, I could definitely look better if I took extra time to do a lot with my hair, put on a fair amount of makeup, wear "nice" and attractive clothes, coordinated accessories, etc.* Unfortunately, it is likely another symptom of my ADHD that I just do not care enough most of the time to spend a couple hours on my appearance, and also want to be as unfussed about my hair/clothing as possible (IOW, no hair down to get in my way, no clothing that I have to worry to be careful about not getting dirty/wrinkled or have to be careful how I move {skirts/dresses, super-baggy to catch on things, low-cut tops}, no accessories I have to be careful of to keep on or not catch on things or not lose track of, etc.). So, I'm usually in t-shirts and jeans or cargo pants, with my hair back in a single braid, and not much makeup (though sometimes I do the "bare minimum" of eyeliner because otherwise I look like I have no eyelashes).

*I have a friend who's considered attractive but I know she spends a lot of time getting her makeup right, etc. (and is one of those people for whom makeup really changes her appearance). Without makeup she's just average looking. But I just haven't got the energy to do that every day, let alone *before* I go to work...

I don't wear my hair down, the closest it's been to loose in 6 years was pulled back with my headscarf but not bunned. Most people don't even realize I have long hair because I wear it covered. When I used to have my bun showing or if I needed to fix it in public only women commented.

I've had a man comment about how I wear my hair up in so many different styles and he's surprised at how many different ways hair can be worn up. I've also had some guys in college flirt with me more when my hair was down and straight vs down and curly. I've had more women comment about my short hair saying it was cute and stylish. But other than that, I haven't really had very many comments about my hair from others now that it's past shoulder length. My mom and dad occasionally comment about how long it's getting since I've only had pixie cuts in the past 5+ years and never longer than shoulder length. I know I don't have long hair.. and the last time I had almost waist length hair was middle school. I remember a lot of people were shocked at how long my hair actually was when it was down and straightened. I normally wore it in 2 braids cause I didn't know how to take care of curly hair and the ends would always curl up so it didn't really show how long it was.
