Thank you ladies. It’s been a week and I’m getting used to the more relaxed lifestyle, even though I still haven’t told my parents. Financially I’m still holding up, I am trying to read more books, as in paperbacks, and not too dependent on my phone or PC, I might start some small business, who knows.

I’ve already hinted my dad, and I think my mom will figure it out sooner or later.
Last year the same thing happened from March to September, but we’re too busy in the hospital so they didn’t know why I suddenly had so much free time.

Thank you, for the moment I don’t have to worry about my financial situation, I just need some new venture, time to pick up my guitar, piano, or calligraphy, learn more languages, life is too short for my hobbies, and if things don’t work out, I can always study and take exams to get some more professional certificates for better job prospects, for example, I am already a certified ESL teacher, CATTI translator, I’ve also published a few books (not best-sellers, sigh). I can try and pass the bar or some engineering tests as an overachieving amateur. In China we can take these exams without actually going to school for a specific major as long as you got enough textbooks and study the hello kitty out of it.

That is so cool. So many when they lose a job go into a tailspin of fear because there isn't enough money for rent and food. The fact that you can take exams like engineering or law without the schooling is a wonderful thing. Can't imagine doing that here in the USA!

Off topic, but there are at least four states where you can legally practice as long as you’ve passed the bar, regardless of schooling: Washington, Vermont, California and Virginia

(You can also be a doctor and not have a bachelor’s degree—getting into med school is all that matters).
