Kat hun, that is essentially what I do with this style but there are multiple variations. Sometimes I even braid the left over hair and pin it across the twist or along side…securing it with a single bobby pin.


Definitely experiment and see what you like best.




Not surprisingly, I have another pair of homemade sticks to show shortly. Got a bit busy today with company but will get some shots in a little while….

Today I’m rockin’ these….





I just love how mine show up in my hair, unlike many of the etsy sticks that are much shorter. Although, many etsy sellers are willing to make custom-made sticks that are the length you want. Waiting to receive some in the mail, as a matter of fact. Ordered them two weeks ago but snail mail is ridiculously slow.


I’m working on making a shorter pair right now, however. Most of ones I make are quite long, but I want a short 5-6” pair for half up-dos. And I want them to be super bling-a-licious. Think I might try to do an unusually long topper on these next ones. We will see.

Awwww, thank you so much, Lapis_lazuli love. So kind and sweet. I really like how those look too. They’re about 10” long.

Oh la la, I’m super pleased with how these shorter sticks came out!



I used a striking metallic paint called “Rich Espresso” and I’m so in love with it. I also like the extra long toppers.


These shorter sticks will be great in half—up-dos or just to add in simply for hair bling and decor.










These pictures really do no justice at all to these sticks. The color is way more spectacular in person. This pic shows it a bit better. What a fabulous color! Thank you, DecoArt!

Made these sticks with a paint called “holiday red”. Added a couple dangly charms to the tops this time. ❤️










And made these with a pretty metallic blue paint called “icy blue”. 💙









I received my custom-made hair sticks from Lady Idun today. A little busy but will get some shots and post them in a bit. They’re so gorgeous!

I’m so pleased with these new custom-made pairs that Lady Idun made me. Just got them yesterday. The clear ones look like glass, and the pearl pink ones are so feminine and pretty.










I’m wearing the clear ones now actually. Posted this shot in Tuanyiji’s lovely hair flower thread but it seems appropriate to post here as well, to show my new pretties. They are 6 and a 1/2” long. I will get tons of use from these glass-like sticks.

Okay, here are my 2 sticks!! I have a LadyIdun stick (the clear unicorn horn) and the other with the green leaves and wood, I also got it on Etsy, but my previous purchase don't load so I can't say who I got it from

pumpkinsage I also have an LadyIdun clear unicorn horn in my stick-collection and I love it.
It holds the bun perfect in place.
