Thank you for the compliments... I have given away probably over hundred including some I have given away to strangers with beautiful hair. I have also sold just a few.
I think you should also visit the self made hair toy thread. I have made lots with metal chopsticks by cutting them down and adding toppers.

Oh you’re very welcome love. Your sticks look very professional, whereas mine are kinda crafty looking. I love both styles. Hair sticks are such a beautiful hair accessory. This silver and pink one below, is sooooo pretty!

Here are aa couple of action shots with some of my me made sticks I agree t is fun, relaxing, and a joy to wear.
I also enjoy compliments where I am able to say ,"I made it."

Yes, seeing the shocked and surprised looks on people’s faces when you say you made it, is the best. I often get those types of compliments when people ask which salon I got my fancy braids done at. Some can’t believe when I say I did them myself…so I know what you mean.


Some on facebook have even told me I should sell my hair sticks but it just doesn’t appeal. I’m more of a give-them-away for free type of person.


I will definitely check out that thread link when I get some more time (meaning when I’m not making hair sticks) . Thank you for directing me to it.

I always wanted a Halloween hair accessory to wear through October but I could never find any, so I made these myself!


I’m absolutely tickeled orange and black, over how they look. These are gonna be so fun to wear later. 🎃









I hit Michael’s earlier today and got more beads. I got them at 60% off, plus my mom got me her senior’s discount again! What a steal!

I've fallen in love with hair sticks lately, I'm so excited to have found this thread! These are all so lovely to look at So cool seeing everyone's homemade ones as well!

I think my hair might still be a bit too short to wear hair sticks with, but I'm sooo tempted to start buying them as a motivator to keep growing out my hair haha. There are just so many lovely styles!

I need to post pictures of my hairsticks some time.

I was looking at some cheap, prettily-painted chopsticks today (bamboo, it looked like) and wondering how I could cut down the pointy end so they're shorter (and not so obviously chopsticks)... I wonder if sanding would do the trick for redoing the taper, or if that would be too annoying/take too long.

Oh I’m so glad you joined us, Runey hun! Welcome, fellow hair stick enthusiast. Don’t be a stranger, love. Of course you can lurk and I’m sure many are, but always feel free to join in the discussions or show us shots of any sticks you buy, may buy or make.


And as I’ve said before, people don’t have to have long hair to enjoy hair sticks. My mom has shoulder length hair and she wears them. I also have a friend with hair even shorter and she makes a tiny bun held by bobby pins and then she just pokes some sticks through it, for decoration. Looks awesome.

Oh yes doll, please share any pictures you want…I adore seeing other people’s sticks too…..or even ones you saw on Etsy or wherever, and are considering buying but haven’t yet.


Ok in my experience, sanding is very subtle, in terms of shortening sticks in any substantial way quickly. If it were me, I would cut the chopsticks down a bit with cutters, then re-sharpen with a pencil sharpener and then sand the points down….only because I dislike mine super pointy sharp….but you may enjoy them that way. To each their own.





Made these pink and gold sticks earlier with these giant but surprisingly lightweight beads. I’m gonna love wearing these….

Oh man, I think these are my new favorite. I am madly in love with this metallic paint I used, called “aquamarine” by DecoArt. It’s just so exceptionally pretty. What a color!

Really love how these 10” long sticks look in my hair this morning. Heading out for a brisk Sunday morning walk, then meeting a friend for tea….then back home to make some more hair sticks!

This double french twist is quite easy to do. I do it just like this one minute video does it, but instead of twisting my hair around my hand, I twist it directly around a hair stick, turning the stick round and round until I reach the top of my head.


Then, instead of tucking the leftover ponytail into the twist, I repeat the process all over again with the leftover pony, using a second stick…so you end up with two french twists side by side.


It’s one of my favorite ways to wear my hair with hair sticks…..especially long sticks. I also love how the sticks can be seen from both the front and back, with this style.
