Default Attempting to live out my pre-Raphaelite dreams

Hello all! I’ve very recently stumbled across LHC, though I’m honestly surprised I didn’t find it years ago!

I’ve had hair angst most of my life. While the majority of my family and close friends have thick and seemingly indestructible hair, mine is fine, comparatively thin, and very hard to grow. Don’t worry, I’ve (mostly) gotten over my hair envy at this point. (And as you might guess from my post title, my other unrealistic beauty standard came from consuming way too much Victorian art as an impressionable youth. ) A few years back, I also had some health issues that caused additional hair loss, though I’ve gotten past that for the most part.

Here’s where the story cheers up a bit: about a year ago, I relocated to a totally different part of the country, and somehow my hair decided it wanted to grow! It’s currently waist length with light, long bangs cut in. It’s just shy of the longest I’ve ever had it, back in my late teens. This has inspired me to take up the dream of even longer hair that I gave up years ago as unattainable for me.

I stumbled on this community looking for braid ideas and found the thread on parandi. I’m hoping to put the inspiration to good use in the coming months, as well as discover some new tips and techniques to keep my hair health and growing. I haven’t had a professional cut since the move, and I’ve decided to bite to bullet and go no trim from 2023. I’m really nervous about this, as my ends split if I look at them wrong. I’m not sure if dusting will be enough, but we’ll give it a try!

My goal is tailbone length, which looks like roughly another nine/ten inches for me. I have no idea how long it’ll take, but I’m looking forward to tracking my journey here. 😊

WL (aka waist length) is nice. I totally recommend reading some of the stickies in the newbie forum for abbreviations, basic hair care info, it's all there if you want.

    Oh, and welcome!

Hello and welcome!! Pre-Raphaelite art also got its hooks in me in my teens, and I dyed my hair copper red for yearsss thanks to Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
    Happy growing <3
