Does black castor oil stain your hair?

I have grey hair and want to preserve the colour. I made up some scalp oil which contained normal castor oil, and as I only bought a small bottle to try, I need to get some more. I read somewhere that the best castor oil for hair growth was the black variety, and I am wondering if it is going to stain my hair, or if I should stick with the colourless oil.

After looking through part of another thread here on castor oil, I found at least a few mentions by other members going back a few years, that it does cause some darkening. I don't know this firsthand nor to what degree the darkening might occur. I hope this helps.
